Now that Mother has been picked up, executive producers Carter Bays and Craig Thomas will soon be pulling double duty. On Monday, the network announced that the creators reupped their contract, along with developing a new series for CBS.

How I Met Your Mother Cast Helps Fight Cancer
By Flo in Jan 13, 2010 | Categories: Multimedia, News

They’re remaining tight-lipped about who Ted’s wife is, but the cast of How I Met Your Mother can’t keep quiet about a cause close to their hearts.

The show’s stars — Jason Segel, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris, Alyson Hannigan and Josh Radnor — have partnered with the T.J. Martell Foundation in a newly-released public service announcement, urging viewers to send a $5 text message donation to help find a cure for cancer.

“We’ve all got friends and family who have been affected by cancer, and we’ve got to find a cure,” says Smulders, who plays Robin, in the video.

The PSA hits home with many of the actors, including Harris, who told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres of his manager’s struggle with cancer in 2008.

“We’ve been together 22 years,” he says. “To watch someone go through that, it’s so bizarre to see how many terrible steps there are in that process.”

The T.J. Martell Foundation, founded in 1975, was named after a high school student who lost his battle with leukemia.

Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley and Miranda Lambert have also volunteered for the group.

To donate $5 for the fight against cancer, text TJ to 90999. The one-time donation will be added to your monthly phone bill. For more information, visit the T.J. Martell Foundation’s Web site.

“How I Met Your Mother” Spoilers
By Rachel in Dec 19, 2009 | Categories: How I Met Your Mother, News

AusielloFiles posted a “How I Met Your Mother” spoiler:

Question: What do I have to do to get some How I Met Your Mother scoop around here? —Hannah
Ausiello:
You have to simmah down nah and keep reading. Golden Globe nominee Neil Patrick Harris tells me that the musical number at the end of the 100th episode on Jan. 11 will demand repeat viewings. “There were so many great little things that we were able to put into each shot,” he says. “The song [titled "Nothing Suits Me Like a Suit"] happens so quickly that I think you’ll go back and go, ‘Whoa, wait a minute, those mannequins in the background are actually humans that are moving.’ There are going to be a lot of those little things.”

Question: Please tell me it’s not really the end for Barney and Robin on How I Met Your Mother! —Daphne
Ausiello:
Neil Patrick Harris isn’t convinced it is. “I think there are still feelings there,” he says. “I don’t know that it’s done.” Regardless, the romance — which he says was “supposed to be two, maybe three episodes and it turned into seven” — served its purpose in that it humanized Barney. “At a certain point when you see someone who is just abhorrent week in and week out with his sexual conquests it’s nice to figure out what the Kryptonite is there,” he says. “Otherwise, [he] becomes a one-trick pony. So I’m glad that they fleshed him out a little bit. I also got to work with Cobie in a more serious nature. It was fun to do actual scenes with her as opposed to just being jokey.” What now? Does Barney just revert back to being a one-dimensional cad? “There’s no way to not go back to where he was pre-Robin,” he maintains. “That’s Barney Stinson in a nutshell. He suppresses all actual emotion and just plants his seed wherever he goes. Can I say that in EW? I meant it in a dirty way.” Actually, you can’t. I’ll let this one slide.

Talking to Celebrity Baby Scoop About SMG
By Rachel in Dec 19, 2009 | Categories: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Interviews, News

Alyson Hannigan had previosuly sat down for an exclusive interview with Celebrity Baby Scoop and dished about her home birth, the significance of Satyana’s name and birth date, how fatherhood has been for hubby Alexis Denisof and the funny story behind those adorable kangaroo Halloween costumes, and she also talked a bit about Sarah (Michelle Gellar):

CBS: Are you and Sarah Michelle Gellar still in touch? Have you met baby Charlotte?
AH:
“I sent her a card congratulating her on her pregnancy and she wrote me back, but I’ve not met Charlotte. I’m so happy for her.”

Alyson Discusses Being a Mother
By Rachel in Dec 17, 2009 | Categories: Alyson, News

Alyson Hannigan sat down for an exclusive interview with Celebrity Baby Scoop and dished about her home birth, the significance of Satyana’s name and birth date, how fatherhood has been for hubby Alexis Denisof and the funny story behind those adorable kangaroo Halloween costumes.

CBS: Satyana was born on your 35th birthday (March 24)! Was this her due date?
AH:
“It was her due date. And actually, my mom was born on her mom’s birthday. On my dad’s side of the family, all of the women are born on the 24th of the month, not the same month, but always the 24th.”

CBS: How has motherhood changed you?
AH:
“It’s changed me in every way because my life is so much greater. It filled a void I never knew was there—it’s the most amazing experience of my life. I just feel so blessed to get to be on this journey—to be a mommy. She is just the greatest baby.”

CBS: How do you pronounce Satyana? How did you come up with the name?
AH:
“You pronounce it like Tatiana but with an “S.” The root of it means truth, and we added the “ana” to make it go better with my husband’s last name, which is Russian.”

CBS: We heard you had a home birth? Did you use a midwife?
AH:
“Yes. I did use a midwife and a doula. We had the option of having a doctor there, but even he said you’ll only need me if you need to be transferred to the hospital–which thankfully, I did not need.”

CBS: You have been voted by our readers as our new favorite celebrity mom. Is this an honor or does it only add more paparazzi and less anonymity?
AH:
“I must confess, I like seeing other people’s babies so I get it. My husband, on the other hand, probably feels a bit different. It’s like when you get caught in a game of hide and go seek, but you don’t actually know you’re playing. When the paparazzi pops out I always feel like I just lost. But it is an honor and I love being a mom.”

CBS: Alexis seems like such an amazing, hands-on dad. How has fatherhood been for him?
AH:
“He is an amazing dad. It’s been such a profound experience for both of us. He’s just so remarkable, such a great, great father. It makes me want to cry how happy I am that she gets to have him as her dad. It’s a beautiful relationship to watch grow. She is a lucky girl.”

100th Episode Details
By Rachel in Dec 14, 2009 | Categories: How I Met Your Mother, News

The How I Met Your Mother gang doesn’t scrimp on celebrations. For its 100th episode Jan. 11 (8 ET/PT), the CBS comedy’s cast will perform a grand musical number featuring 65 dancers and a 50-person orchestra.

“It almost felt like an old-school MGM musical to me. It was a lot of cast and crew grouping together to make it special,” says Neil Patrick Harris, who plays the womanizing Barney. Harris, joined by fellow cast members Josh Radnor, Jason Segel, Alyson Hannigan and Cobie Smulders, is at the center of the 2½-minute song-and-dance piece: Nothing Suits Me Like a Suit.

USA TODAY has a first look at the extravaganza, which was filmed over two days on the Fox studio lot’s New York Street. HIMYM executive producers Carter Bays and Craig Thomas wrote the words and music, then called on the talents of composer John Swihart and choreographer Zach Woodlee (Glee). Bays and Thomas have featured musical elements, such as the Robin Sparkles ’80s teen pop numbers, in episodes of HIMYM, which has a new episode Monday at 8.

“The way we viewed it was our 100th episode would end with something that felt like a party, like an on-air party for fans, and create a jubilant celebration moment at the end of the show,” Thomas says. “It feels like a crazy movie fantasyland.”

Harris, who has hosted the Tonys and Emmys, is happy Thomas and Bays wrote the song. “I’m glad we didn’t source it out. It still has the same sense of humor and sort of odd, obscure comedic ring to it.”

In the episode, “Girls vs. Suits,” the ever-business-suited Barney has the chance to date a hot bartender, but there’s a catch: She disdains men in suits. Thomas describes the ensuing musical extravaganza as “kind of a love song to The Suit, capital T, capital S.”

The episode will also reveal more, Thomas says, about the “mother” — Ted’s (Radnor) eventual wife — in the show’s title. “It’s the closest we’ve seen Ted get to answering the question: ‘Who is the mother?’ “

“How I Met Your Mother” Spoiler
By Rachel in Dec 10, 2009 | Categories: How I Met Your Mother, News

I read a while back that Amanda Peet would be appearing on ‘How I Met Your Mother.’ Any news about her character? – David
When I first skimmed the script for Episode 13, in which Marshall gets surprised with a smooch from a drunk coworker named Jenkins, I thought for sure the CBS comedy would be taking “bromance” to a new level. But nope, the very female Peet is the one playing Jenkins. So now I’m all, “Way to go, Mr. Eriksen! Send yourself some more free wings from your future self!”

Will ‘Sandy Rivers’ Make Another Appearance
By Rachel in Dec 9, 2009 | Categories: How I Met Your Mother, News

I’ve noticed that you’ve had a lot of people from various Joss Whedon shows guest star. Is that just a coincidence?
We’re huge fans. Alyson [Hannigan] we became fans of from “Buffy.” There’s certainly a big talent pool there, and we’ve tried to mine that as much as we can.

Any chance we might see the return of Alyson’s husband [Alexis Denisof] as Sandy Rivers?
You know, it’s always on our minds. It’s always something we want to do. He was so great as Sandy. We’d love to bring him back at some point.

Plugging Alexis Denisof’s New Project
By Rachel in Dec 7, 2009 | Categories: News, Other

Laura Leighton and Alexis Denisof have joined the cast of ABC Family’s hourlong pilot “Pretty Little Liars.” Ashley Benson, newcomer Shay Mitchell, Jean Louisa Kelly and Nia Peeples also have been cast in “Liars,” joining Lucy Hale and Troian Bellisario.

In other ABC pilot castings, Tracey Fairway and Nick Robinson have joined Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence in their untitled multicamera comedy, and Vanessa Marano and Chloe Bridges have landed starring roles opposite Scott Cohen and Stephanie Childers the untitled Michael Jacobs single-camera comedy.

“Liars,” based on Alloy Entertainment’s series of novels, revolves around four teen girls — Aria (Hale), Emily (Mitchell), Spencer (Bellisario) and Hanna (Benson) — who begin to receive mysterious messages, seemingly from a girlfriend who disappeared three years before.

Leighton (“Melrose Place”) will play Hanna’s mother. Denisof (“Angel”) will play Aria’s father, with Kelly (“Yes, Dear”) and Peeples also playing parents. Additionally, Bianca Lawson and APA-repped Torrey DeVitto and Sasha Pieterse have landed recurring roles in the pilot.

The untitled Hart-Lawrence project stars Hart as a political dynasty wild child-turned-politician who takes in her teenage niece (Fairway) and pre-adolescent nephew (Robinson) when her sister goes to prison and her brother-in-law flees. She turns for help to Jack (Lawrence), who, desperate for a job, moves in and becomes the family’s “manny.”

In the Jacobs project, a young dad (Cohen) recently laid off from his architecture firm begins to identify with and mentor his underdog middle daughter (Marano) as his veterinarian wife (Childers) shares a closer bond with their Type-A older daughter (Bridges). Valerie Tian (“Juno”) has been tapped to play the best friend of one of the girls.

No Whedon, No ‘Buffy’ Film for Alyson
By Rachel in Dec 5, 2009 | Categories: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, News

Alyson Hannigan has stated she wouldn’t appear in the proposed new Buffy the Vampire Slayer film because Joss Whedon isn’t involved with the project. Earlier this year it emerged that a new film version of Buffy was in the works but it did not involve Joss Whedon and was not a sequel to the television series.
Instead the project was a complete reboot of the franchise with the idea that it would be the first in a series of films.

Unsurprisingly fans did not meet the prospect of a Whedon-free Buffy warmly and Alyson Hannigan seems to agree with them.

“Yeah, that’s a very big mistake in my opinion. I mean if Joss isn’t involved, it’s only the title. Joss is the only reason that we would go back. I mean, it’s just ridiculous to think of that TV show without Joss.” said Alyson Hannigan during an interview with Cinema Blend.
