How I Met Your Mother’s Alyson Hannigan says she’s “very green,” more so than ever since becoming a mom.

“We use gDiapers, a hybrid — it’s cloth on the outside and there’s a liner that you can compost, but if you don’t, it biodegrades in three months, not years. We go to the farmers market all the time. We’re putting in an organic garden to grow things I can’t get at the farmers market.” Besides produce such as strawberries and blueberries “that I just want to have, we’ll do unusual lettuces and a particular kind of cucumber and a lot of different herbs.”

100 episodes down and How I Met Your Mother is another hit for Alyson Hannigan. She’s gone from Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s witch friend Willow and American Pie’s band geek to Mother’s moral compass. Her character, Lily, presents the ideal relationship with her husband Marshall (Jason Segel.) Now she is a real life mommy, but on TV they still haven’t met the mother.

Zimbio: After 100 episodes, what have been your favorite moments from the show?
Alyson Hannigan: I think my favorite moment was when the USC marching band played, with Marshall and Lily deciding whether or not to pick each other up at the airport. I was pregnant at the time and maybe a little emotional. Just to be surrounded by such a beautiful song and to have all that live music coursing through me and my baby, it was really touching.

Zimbio: How did your dad meet your mom?
Alyson Hannigan: My dad was sitting on a stoop in Brooklyn with his dog. My mom was walking her dog and the dogs liked each other and then they did, too.

Zimbio: I can’t believe that actually works.
Alyson Hannigan: It didn’t work. They got divorced, but it did work for however long it worked.

Zimbio: You guys get awesome guest stars. Is there anyone you still hope to have on the show?
Alyson Hannigan: I’d love to work with Jennifer Aniston. I keep hoping she’s the mom.

Who’s the mom on “How I Met Your Mother?”

Jennifer Aniston, if show star Alyson Hannigan has her way.

“I’d love to have Jennifer Aniston! I’d like her to turn out to be the mom,” Hannigan, 35, told UsMagazine.com at the show’s 100th episode screening in Beverly Hills Thursday night.

Britney Spears, Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt and Kim Kardashian have all appeared on the CBS comedy.

Aniston, however, may have other plans. The Hollywood Reporter recently wrote that the single actress is considering starring alongside Adam Sandler in romantic comedy “Pretend Wife.”

The flick would be released in February 2011 around Valentine’s Day.

Aniston is set to appear in two romantic comedies in 2010: The Baster with Jason Batemen and The Bounty Hunter with Gerard Butler.

As someone who spent several therapy sessions trying to understand why I couldn’t live in Sunnydale (it’s fake Dr. Klein, I know that now), any actor whose name is synonymous with that town understands they face a much larger hurdle when it comes to pleasing me with their post-”Buffy” projects.

But thanks to a set of comedic chops that rival her ability for making me cry, Alyson Hannigan has found the perfect follow-up role on “How I Met Your Mother.” For five seasons she’s played one half of TV’s most romantic and aspirational relationship … and to hear Alyson tell it, she’s just like that in real life.

In addition to cluing me in to her pet-name predilections, Alyson revealed to PopWrap (on day four of our week-long “HIMYM” celebration) what she believes has made the show so successful and why you’ll never, ever, see her name emblazoned across the front of a CD!

PopWrap: Congratulations on your People’s Choice Award!
Alyson Hannigan: Thank you! It was amazing. Such a nice way to begin the decade! Read the rest of this entry »

Monday marks the 100th episode of “How I Met Your Mother,” a milestone for any series but an especially notable one in this case. Despite glowing reviews and a cult fan base, “Mother’s” future was often in doubt for its first three years on the air. By year four however, the series cemented its status as one of television’s most-watched comedies. And with Jason Segel’s burgeoning film career and Neil Patrick Harris’s burgeoning… everything, “Mother” continues to carve out its place in pop culture at large. Reflection on said struggles and triumphs then were the focus of the Paley Center’s “How I Met Your Mother: 100th Episode Celebration” on Thursday. Here’s a recap of the event:

6:38 PM – Paley executive Craig Hitchcock appears to intro tonight’s panel and isn’t shy about his love for the show. We’ll be seeing plenty of Craig come February 26 when this year’s Paleyfest kicks off.

Considering how many TV series, for whatever reason, fail to take off, when you reach your 100th episode, it’s definitely worth noting. When I visited the set of How I Met Your Mother‘s 100th episode, co-creator Carter Bays told me he definitely felt proud of their accomplishment, saying, “The 100th episode is the reason you start writing a sitcom. There’s something about three digits… What we set out to do at the beginning of this show was tell a long, winding saga and it’s kind of exciting feeling like we’re really deep into that saga now.”

Co-creator Craig Thomas added that the 100th episode, “Girls vs. Suits,” “feels like a very celebratory episode. It ends with a big musical number. We viewed it as this on-camera celebration. Like a party we’re sort of throwing for the fans at the end of the 100th episode, just to sort of say thanks. Thanks for being part of this party and let’s just go out of episode 100 with a bang and start the next 100 episodes with some good energy.”

That aforementioned musical number is performed by none other than Neil Patrick Harris, whose character, Barney Stinson, has a new goal. As Harris explained to me, “Barney needs to nail the hot bartender [played by former WWE diva Stacy Keibler] that works at MacLaren’s. Oddly, he’s never banged a hot bartender before. He has a lot of conquests, but never a hot bartender.”

However, Harris noted that a big dilemma occurs for Barney when he learns that Keibler’s character, “doesn’t like guys in suits. Her past three exes were suit wearers and she despises them.” Hence, Harris remarked, “Barney has to choose between giving up suits to bang her or leaving her and keeping his suits – and he sings about it! The next logical step is he sings about it!”

On a crisp November afternoon on the famed New York Street at 20th Century Fox Studios in Los Angeles, old Hollywood comes back to life in an elaborate song-and-dance number that forms the centerpiece of the 100th episode of CBS’ hit comedy “How I Met Your Mother.”

Airing Monday, Jan. 11, “Girls vs. Suits” finds the nattily dressed Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) challenged to adopt a more casual look to please a beautiful bartender (Stacy Keibler). One result of the tension is a 2 1/2-minute production number to the song “Nothing Suits Me Like a Suit,” written by series creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas. Read the rest of this entry »
